Community Service
Join our community that gives back
One of EBGA’s goals is to collaborate with the neighborhood food pantries to provide organic produce to people in need.
We’ve supported Care for Real with several plots dedicated to this goal. In 2025, we began to support the Edgewater Mutual Aid Association.
We donated a total of 618 bags of produce to the food pantry!
This volume of activity was only possible because of the generosity of 16 volunteers, giving of their time to water the plots every week during the season and harvest on Saturday mornings. It was a great example of a community of gardeners at work in service of our neighbors in need. We are grateful to all who contributed to the endeavor and are especially appreciative of Gethsemane Gardens for their very generous donations of plants, seeds, and compost to make the project possible.
Consider joining the Community Service committee — it’s an opportunity to keep your hands in the dirt, to manage and experiment with another plot, and to give back at a time when it’s most needed.
